„Climate change – you will not negotiate with physics”

Aleksandra Kardaś, PhD, is an atmospheric physicist, Vice-President of the Foundation for Climate Education, and a member of the Committee on the Climate Crisis of the Polish Academy of Sciences. She is editor-in-chief of the Naukaoklimacie.pl website, author of the popular science book „Książka o wodzie ” and co-author of the textbooks „Nauka o klimacie” and „Klimatyczne ABC”. For many years she has been sharing her climate knowledge with the public through science festivals, lectures, online courses and newspaper and online articles.

„Advancing Science for Society via Race-conscious Algorithmic Approaches”

Dr. Thema Monroe-White is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Data Analytics at Berry College and serves as the Academic Director of the Campbell Center for Data Analytics. As an interdisciplinary scholar, her work explores into the systemic biases that affect the workforce, and educational journeys of racially minoritized groups within science, engineering, and information technology fields. Her research is concerned with understanding the innovative pathways for achieving social and economic justice for minoritized groups via data, algorithmic and AI literacy, STEM education, and entrepreneurship. She holds a Ph.D. in science, technology, and innovation policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology as well as Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology from Howard University.
The aim of the conference is to bring together academic researchers to celebrate the International Women’s Day by promoting pluralism in economics, finance and management. We invite submissions from all researchers, regardless of their gender, interested in orthodox and heterodox approaches in their fields. We plan to organize sessions in Polish and in English.
The main focus of the conference is:

omen’s perspectives (feminist economics, female leadership etc.)

igital economy (fintech, financial innovation, policies, information, games industry etc.)

Eligibility Requirements

  • The paper has to be presented during the IWD 2024 conference.
  • The paper must present original research results and cannot be accepted for publication at the time of submission.
  • Authors must send their full papers before January 31, 2024 to iwd@uekat.pl indicating in the topic „Submission for the Best Paper Award”.
  • The jury will announce the decision during the IWD 2024 conference.
